SP2 - Storage Integration

Low-carbon energy system integrates energy storages within various energy carriers. Energy storages integrated into active energy system management can improve overall system performance, increase hosting capacity of renewables and provide more resilience and stability while ensuring cost effectiveness of the system at different time scales. Storages are applied on different system levels ranging from large transmission level applications into small customer-level batteries. Their interoperability and coordination across system levels is essential. R&D activities in SP2 are related to integration aspects of storage technologies in different energy systems utilizing different storage and conversion technologies, taking also into account related markets and business models. SP2 will especially advance the integration of storages providing flexibility for the energy system, the techno-economics and market evaluations of storages and integration of electric vehicles (EV) into grid.
